Responsible gambling
Lotteries are gambling. Here is how to keep it under control and where to find free, confidential help.

A lottery ticket is entertainment, not an investment
On average a lottery pays back less than it takes in, so the expected value of a ticket is negative. Very large jackpots do not change the fact that almost every ticket loses. No system, number pattern or history of "hot" numbers can predict a draw.
Simple rules
Set a budget you can afford to lose and stick to it. Do not chase losses. Do not borrow money to play. Take breaks, and do not play to escape problems.
Warning signs
Spending more than you planned, hiding your play from others, feeling anxious when you cannot play or playing to win back money are signs that gambling is becoming a problem. Help is free and confidential.
Age limits
You must be 18 or older to play, and the minimum age is higher in some places (for example 21 for some US games). We do not knowingly target minors.
